ambiruRmxD Wordpress Theme

So in case you want to use the updated ambiru theme, which I have called ambiruRmxD, you can download it from the wordpress theme repository this web site.

I really do recommend that you use wordpress widgets to fill out the sidebar, there really is no sense in messing around with PHP when you can do this all by means of clicking.

I’ve also included in the package an “eyeless” version of the header, in case you are mystified or horrified of the power of my ninja like satanic eyes.

This theme, like the one it is based from, is licensed under a CC Attribution-ShareAlike license, and if you feel like you must donate, donate to the original author.

New Blog Look and Feel

So, as you may have noticed, I changed things quite a bit. The original wordpress theme used for this blog, the Ambiru Theme, was pretty good but I wanted to display some sidebar widgets on the right to display random stuff that no one cares about.

I also wanted to have a bit more room as the original theme offered 450px in width, which was a bit constrained. Also, I changed the pic from the header…I would have left the old one but I did not have the source for the theme header, and expanding it really made it look like shit. The new header pic is more in terms of the blog’s name, don’t you think?

I will make the updated theme publicly available once I polish it a bit, there are some quirks I am still trying to iron out.

So what do you think, about the new look? Likey or no likey?

The picture above is of Tone, the last canine acquisition of my mother. He is son of Champion (the dog’s name) and he is supposed to be a German Sheppard of some kind. One of the many curses of being a pet at my parent’s house is that inevitably, it will end up with many many nicknames. The original dog’s name was Tony, which quickly morphed into Tone as a tribute to my nephew who says that word whenever he wants to give you something (in Spanish, take is translated tome, but he cannot yet say it). My other nephew baptized it La Alformbra Pinzón because he looks like a rug with teeth. My sister has recently given it the name of the murciégalo (sic) due to his long pointy eras. When putting all of these three together, my sister came up with a name that sounds like a pro boxer: Tone “the Murciégalo” Pinzón. We had to turn Tone into a boxing legend, and that is exactly what Photoshop helped us accomplish.

Ah, the many joys of Photoshop! Xavier is a friend who keeps sending pictures of him doing off-roading stuff and whatnot. Quite frankly, I do not care much about them but it is not like the pictures aggravate me. Most of the time, I just watch them and that is about it. Other times, the Photoshop devil in my head screams: DO IT! I had photoshopped Xavier’s pic a long time ago. Today, while doing some spring cleaning in my computer, I found it and literally laughed my ass off. I am far from being a Photoshop guru, but in this particular modification, I have to admit I am a bit proud. The original pic is the one you see above (click for larger image). To see the modified image, read the rest of the story.

Being on the road for almost two months in a row, I haven’t had a chance to work on any web page projects. I have to admit I miss them a lot – I love messing around with Photoshop and I haven’t fired it up for quite some time now. The most I can do as of now is just watch a series of tutorials by some VERY talented artists that were posted on digg.

Amazing IKEA Flash

May 20th, 2006

Flash is great, no doubt about it. If you do not know what flash is, it is a format developed by Macromedia to display animations on the web, it is scriptable and whenever you see something moving on a web page, chances are that it is a flash animation.

The use of flash has declined over the years since many advertising companies use flash to display ads. This can quickly become irritable which is the reason why more and more people block flash when surfing the web.
