Human Rights for Criminals

Costa Rica is a great place to live – no question about it. The Atlantic and Pacific beaches are only a short drive away, the weather is close to perfect, we have great educational system, we have thousands and thousands of flora and fauna, yet I do not have the nerve to recommend to anyone as a tourist attraction. Why, you ask? For the fact that this place is turning into a dangerous place to not only visit for your vacation but also to live.

Before I start my rant, it is worth noting that I have never been mugged here, I’ve had people break into my car to steal my stereo and had my digital camera stolen at a wedding, but I have never been confronted by someone demanding that I give them something of mine (knock on wood). This does not mean that everything is happy dandy safe – no way…I am just the most paranoid human being living in Costa Rica, and I think for this reason I have not (yet) been mugged. But life should not have to be that way, should it? Is it really necessary living in complete paranoia to avoid being robbed, or even worse, killed by someone who gives a flying rat’s ass about another human being’s life? I think not.

The problem of everything, and I mean, everything crime-wise in this country has to do with the pussy ass laws that we have when it comes to treating criminals when they commit a crime. Criminals are not scared of the law and they will never be because they know the worst that will happen is that they will go to jail and given that they behave for a while, they will eventually be free again…free to commit more crimes. I believe that jails here only makes things worse by turning not-so-bad criminals into fucking madmen while they are jailed. They are surrounded by the scum of the scum, the septic tank of human beings that lives and revolves around no principles whatsoever – human beings (if they can be called that) that only live to become a parasitic cancer, and like such, I believe they should be eradicated, even if it means chopping a fucking limb or two from the system.

During this last year, I know of a friend’s mother and grandmother who had their house raided by two masked assholes who stole anything they could get their hands on. This while they pointed at them with guns (the grandmother is like 80 years old). My cousin was recently mugged while on the way to work and had the living daylights beaten out of him for showing resistance. 9 criminals escaped prison and killed a guard a month ago – they are now back in jail but one of them managed to rape someone on the small time that he had out there. All in all, this makes me sick to my stomach. I believe that a human being that has no respect for human life has no business being alive.

So is this the answer? Having a death penalty? Who knows, but I tell you this: if I ever had someone hurt anyone I love, nothing would bring me more pleasure to rip the fucker apart with my own hands- and if I cannot do that, then knowing he/she would die would be good enough. Now at this point you can judge me as being psychotic, but I think I am just being realistic. I am not going to say that I would not try to get vengeance because nothing would be obtained – fuck that shit.

So maybe the death penalty is not the answer, maybe we should have them rot in jails – but wait…that is exactly what is happening right now! Our tax money is being spent on these good for nothing sons of bitches who get a free lunch for killing someone. I think that they should be forced to work their ass off in jail. Come to think about it. The reason why these fuckers are there in the first place was because they tried to follow the easy way out and avoid working – so what better punishment than have them work and work and work? Have them work fixing the roads, cleaning up the city, do ANYTHING at all. But NO! we let them stay in prison with all the idle time in the world thinking about their next attack as soon as they set one foot free from their imprisonment. I think the reason these fuckers are not allowed to work is because of human rights, and I say fuck that. The moment that you kill or attempt against a person’s life, you are not human anymore, and as such, you should not have any rights.

Knowing that death awaits if you take a particular set of actions should bring sense the biggest badass criminal out there. Everyone is scared of death, and as such, I think it is the best prevention against horrible crimes. I would even make it a public event, like the guillotine back in the French Revolution. Seeing others know that people mean “WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE YOUR SHIT” has to make you think twice before trying to kill someone. Some would argue that killing criminals is an expensive task as it requires gas chambers and what not, but come on, we do not need to follow the fancy killing approach – how expensive can a chair and some rope cost?

So this is the problem, this is the cancer, and action needs to be taken. Fuck all NAFTA arguments, there are more serious things at stake here. I think it is about time we realize that the criminal activity in this country is quickly getting out of hand. And until more severe laws are passed that will defend the human rights of us, the people who work and who chose to follow a life that would not hinder the lives of others, we are on our way to hell. See what I am saying? The pussy laws defend the human rights of horrible criminals by placing light sentences on them – but who the hell protects our human right to live when threatened by these vile and detestable fuckheads?
