TechHosting is the Worst Hosting Service I Have Ever Had
January 13th, 2008
A while ago I read on deal-mac.com about a great deal with the hosting company called TechHosting. I unfortunately did the change and have tested it for the last 2 months with my personal account to see what gives. If I have learned something about web hosting companies is that that vast majority sucks, and you have to test them before committing to a full migration.
TechHosting has been awful. My first problem started when I was promised 7 add-on domains. My control panel showed only 1 and it took them approximately 2 weeks to resolve this issue. I had live chats with 4 of their monkeys with headsets and they all said the problem would be fixed – pure and utter bullshit.
After a while, my website would stop working for a while. This happened for just on day or so, and I decided to give them the benefit of bad luck before switching over to a new hosting company. Yesterday my web site went offline again and their 24/7 tech support staff is yet to be found. I would gladly open a ticket, but their website is so slow that it times out and I cannot reach the ticket center.
If you read this wondering on whether or not to sign with them, DON’T!!!!! Not convinced? Check these quotes: and these ones:
“…TechHosting sucks. They are liars and cheats. They have no support for the lies they make. Try to get them on chat or mail … no way … never works, man..”
“…Support is terrible – no “live support” and they ignore email requests and support tickets. They used to say 24/7 support, now downgraded to 12/7 support and 24 hour email requests. Doesn’t make much difference anyways. I have only been with them a couple…”
Ever since my bitter experience with LunarPages, they gave me some hosting time for free. I have tested it and have been so worry free as when compared to TechHosting that I will move everything to LunarPages.

I use A Small Orange. They are more expensive than the competition, but their service is really top notch.
And for email, NOTHING beats Google Hosted Mail.

Yeah – I guess this is a perfect example on “you get what you pay for”
I migrated about 20 accounts from different e-mails to Google Mail and I am extremely happy with the results. As they say here “tiene todo el hocico atoyado de razón”

Agreed, techhosting are getting worse. Here are my stats from the site I have with them (only testing):
* uptime currently 83% independently monitored
* average page load times 13 seconds independently tested
* average ticket response time 20 days
* “urgent” support request response time 48 hours
I heard that they have been selling hosting to warez, porn and spam mail sites. Who knows?
One things is definite – techhosting sucks!

Wow, thanks for that stats, I had no idea they sucked that much!!! Sheeeesh!!! The worst part is that they are referred to from a site that I deem as respectable (dealmac.com).
Apparently, they have refunded my money, but still, there is no excuse for offering such a sucky service. I really hope this helps someone reconsider on signing with them in the future….
