Dear Apple: Fix the Fucking Green Button

By , With No Comments

I apologize in advance for dropping the F-bomb in the title of the post, but seriously, enough is enough.

I am not sure if you are a Mac user; but if you are then chances are that you know what I am talking about.  That stupid green button on Mac OS X windows that does whatever the hell it wants each time you press it.  There really is no way to predict what this bloody thing will do.

I am using a developer preview of Yosemite, the next operating system from Apple that will be released in the fall.  I was appalled to see that this button is still as random as can be.  This window is sitting in the middle of my monitor:

If I click the button to maximize the window, then this is what happens:

Thank you finder, that’s exactly what I did not want to happen.  Clicking the green button again returns it to its original size.

The saddest part is that none of the documentation talks about what the damn green button should do.  They talk about fullscreen mode and whatnot, but not once is it mentioned how to make this thing do what it needs to do.

This has gotten so ridiculous over the years that someone has taken the time to release a solution so that when the green button is clicked, it actually behaves the way it should.

Unfortunately this is currently broken in Yosemite developer preview, so I have to sit there and watch the green button do whatever the hell it feels like doing today.
